Niagara Falls

We had a great time over our 3 day visit!  Thursday we crossed the border, visited the   Power Plant (a bit disappointing because you can't go down into it since 9/11); went to the aquarium (half off because there was no sea lion show that day), and hit the casino.  Now, we are not really casino type people, but our hotel pkg gave us free credits.  First of all, it was SO smoky in there!  We decided to play our credits and get out of there!  Lucky us, we won $85 and we were out of there ha ha!  Dinner at the Keg, and Dave and Busters after supper.  We had no idea what Dave and Busters was, but once again we had free credits to use.  It turned out that we had a very fun few hours at an arcade type place.  When you won, the games would spew tickets out at you, sometimes 10 feet long.

At the end of the night you cash in your tickets for a prize.  We made sure to bring Lucy home a little cushion to play with (which she claimed immediately once we opened the suitcase LOL).  On the way home we took a ride in the SkyWheel ferris wheel, with a nice night view over the Falls and the city.

Our hotel counter girl told us a free place to park which we took advantage of all weekend.  Friday we did all the cheesy Clifton Hill tourist attractions and had lots of fun.  We started by going up the Skylon Tower for a nice view, then walked down along the Falls.

It was getting warm so we dropped off our jackets and drove to our secret parking spot.  We started by going through the Crystal Caves, a mirror maze.  Anton cheated by looking at the exit signs.  Then the House of Frankenstein which was completely dark and creepy.  Frankie hid behind Anton the whole way.  We went on Ripleys Moving Theatre which they call a 4D experience (your seat moves).  Louis Toussouds Wax Museum was surprisingly interesting.  Everyone is so tall (except Michael J Fox).

The Ripleys Believe it or Not was interesting but we were in there a long time because there was so much reading to do.  The XD Theatre was another 4D simulated roller coaster thing.  Another little walk to see the Falls.  We played outdoor dinosaur mini golf.  Then a nice drive along the Niagara Parkway.  Supper at Outback Steakhouse (we had vouchers for all these restaurants).  Really yummy chicken breast slathered with bacon :)  After supper we went to the Imax show about different Falls daredevils but it was dated so save your money.

On Saturday we went to the Bird Kingdom - loved it!  Birds flying around everywhere!  We got to feed the lorikeets; we were the first ones to feed them that day so we had dozens of them all over us.  Don't know why Frankie got pooped on and not Anton.....

After a couple hours there, we hit the Hershey store and stocked up yum yum.

We drove to the Butterfly Conservatory which was nice but more crowded and we've done butterfly places before.

But they had an interesting venom exhibit.  We had some time afterwards, so we walked through the Botanical Gardens for awhile.  Gorgeous day.  Had a short visit with Anton's mom, then Anton dropped Frankie off in Hamilton where she met her friend Marian for dinner and Stars on Ice.  A perfect ending to a great weekend!

  1. XD Theatre... My nephew and I did that this summer. It was pretty much first time he had been in Niagara Falls more than just driving by. We LOVED that ride/show!! I screamed like crazy... love roller coasters, afraid of heights. This was way worth it and would to it again. The rest of the hill... yeah, I don´t think they have updated the insides of the museums since the 70s. But the area around the falls is pretty/roberta
